Testors Flat Zinc Chromate Enamel Paint TES1184 is a 1/4 fl oz oil-based hobby paint that produces a muted zinc-chromate colour with a flat, non-reflective finish. It is commonly used for aircraft interiors, aircraft components, military models, vehicle details, model engines, cockpit areas, mechanical parts, miniature accessories, dioramas, and scale-model projects that require a realistic aviation or military-style primer colour.
The compact 7.4 mL glass bottle supports controlled brush painting on small parts, interior panels, cockpit details, engine bays, raised features, trim, mechanical components, accessories, and touch-up areas. The flat finish helps create a realistic low-sheen appearance for scale modelling and weathered detail work.
Testors’ fast-drying enamel formula uses finely ground pigments for smooth flow and dependable coverage. The paint colour is controlled from batch to batch and matches the related Testors aerosol paint colour. Stir thoroughly before use, then apply thin, even coats to a clean, dry compatible surface. The formula can be blended with other compatible Testors enamels and is designed to resist blushing and fading.
The paint can be brushed directly from the bottle or airbrushed after thinning with Testors #8824 or #8825A Enamel Airbrushing Thinner. For flat colours, start with three parts paint to one part thinner, then test the mixture before use on the final project. Allow approximately 48 hours for complete cure.
Testors Flat Zinc Chromate is lead free, but it is a flammable and toxic solvent-based enamel. Use it only in a well-ventilated workspace and keep it away from heat, sparks, static discharge, and open flames.
